TELEPHONE

MAKING AN APPOINTMENT (before making an appointment check out the minor illness section)

Each morning from 8:00 appointments for that day become available.

Please telephone 02920 792661 to request an appointment.

As I am sure you will appreciate this is a busy time to call, and you can expect to have to hold to speak to a receptionist.

In the interest of everybody please keep the call short.

Avoid ringing first thing for other requests such as test results.

Routine and emergency appointments with the doctor are of 10 minutes duration.

If you have multiple problems you may be asked to rebook to cover them all.

REQUESTING A HOME VISIT

Home visits are only for housebound patients.

To request call between 8.30 and 10.00am daily, if you call later you may be asked to ring back the next day.

The receptionist will ask for an idea of your problem - this information helps the doctors plan their home visits.

If there is any degree of urgency please make this clear
.
It is in everyone’s interest for you to come to the surgery if able:

  1. Access to your computerized record
  2. Some medical equipment is only available in surgery
  3. 3 patients can be seen in surgery in the time it takes to visit someone

Your co-operation in coming to the surgery is much appreciated and benefits yourself and other patients.

TELEPHONE CONSULTATIONS

If you have a problem that can be dealt with over the telephone, request a call back from a doctor.

UNABLE TO ATTEND?

Every week many patients book appointments and then do not attend.

If you have booked an appointment, but it is no longer needed please call.

We can then offer this appointment to someone else.

TEACHING AND TRAINING

Sometimes we also have medical students with us as part of their training course, but you will always be asked beforehand for your permission if a student is to be present.
